The tables below listing the white and natural colored Romney fleeces available for purchase. These fleeces were well-skirted and free of vegetable matter (VM). Click the magnifying glass in the table below to view large images of each fleece to help you choose!
Handle and Luster are scored (by us) on a scale of 1 to 5 where 3 is a good-quality Romney fleece and 5 is exceptionally nice.
The Visual Rank is obtained for each class (white or natural colored) by actually lining up all of the fleeces in a room (initially by the other scores) and rearranging them until they fall into a ranking as we would judge them in a one-class wool show. Where several fleeces share the same rank it is because their quality was indistinguishable.
The Crimps per Inch measurements will tell you the degree of crimp. We measure crimps per inch as how many complete crimps (the up and the down part) are in a few random 1 inch samples.
